Thank you for visiting Abezen's web site. Here you will find something about who we are and how our fried fish cakes are produced. We are located in the harbor city of Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, along the Pacific coast of northeastern Japan. Blessed with some of the richest fishing grounds of the Pacific Ocean known as Sanriku, Shiogama leads the country in producing processed seafood. Established here in 1926, we at Abezen have constantly put our heart into nurturing food culture through delivering good taste with integrity, leading the market in the production of fried fish cake to this day. The ideal location of our plant has enabled us to procure only the best of the fresh catch from the ocean, allowing us to maintain the same production principles as those applied at the very beginning of our operation. With safety and sanitation among our top priorities, we have always taken the lead in establishing modernized production facilities accompanied by strict quality control systems. In 1999, we adopted the HACCP, the landmark food safety program originally developed to ensure food safety in space missions, putting our production facilities through a most rigorous biannual inspection currently available. More than ever before, we are strongly empowered to continue to produce our prize fried fish cake well into the future. Abezen's fried fish cake is the pride of Shiogama City. We hope that you will find a chance to savor the good taste of our products.

Rich in Protein and Calcium! No Need to Worry about Salt! Healthy Food the World Is Beginning to Recognize! Fish cake has as much protein as an egg, and fish protein is very healthy. Research has shown that foods that are rich in protein with a moderate amount of salt can lower the risk of high blood pressure. Our products including fish dumplings and fried fish cakes are very rich with calcium as well, a nutrient often pointed out as lacking in the diet of many Japanese today. And what's more, these products are all low-calorie and low-fat. No wonder it's not just Japanese food in general but fish cake in particular that's drawing attention in the western world today. The Japanese diet has been gradually westernized during the past half century, causing many of the problems associated with adult diseases and obesity. It's about time the Japanese people became aware of the benefits of Japan's original healthy food―the kamaboko fish cake!
